I am a ceramic artist who was born and raised in Austin, Texas. My work is created at my studio in Austin and at the Eye of the Dog Art Center in San Marcos, Texas.
Artist Statement
I love to open a new bag of wet clay. It smells like the sweet earth and endless possibilities. Inside one might find a coffee cup or a bear riding a unicycle while sipping lemonade. I usually sculpt animals with stories about the most current of events and the oldest of truths.
My love and knowledge of animals provides the framework. But, the elasticity of the clay lets the spontaneity of my imagination and the unexpected shapes that appear to play a role in each piece’s form. With these ingredients, my hope is for the viewer to take in that offbeat sense of realism and accept the invitation to wonder about the tale behind it.
